The future of the U.S. is an issue George Soros has been concerned with for many decades as he has made his home in the country after leaving Hungary as a refugee in the 1940s. After arriving in the 1950s from the U.K. after completing a refugee journey a refugee journey from his native Hungary taking him to the London School of Economics; Forbes reports George Soros understands what everyday life is like for people within the U.K. and U.S. after he worked his way through school as a waiter and kitchen poster while attending the London School of Economics. Creating a fairer future for the people of the U.S. and the democratic nations of the world means bringing about equality which Soros has done with his backing of Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and the appointment of Dawn Fitzpatrick as the head of his own Soros Fund Management.
Politico reports George Soros made his decision to back Hillary Clinton in her bid to become the first female President of the U.S. during the Presidency of Barrack Obama; the Obama Administration has been seen by George Soros as failing to achieve the liberal agenda President Obama promised upon his initial election in 2008. As one of the best known financial backers of the Democratic Party, George Soros is viewed by the majority as providing a range of support for liberal causes and candidates, however, the Hungarian born hedge fund manager did not become involved in the election process to any great effect in both 2008 and 2012. Some reports have placed the level of giving of George Soros in 2012 at just $1 million towards the campaign fund of President Barrack Obama.
The future of the U.S. has always been a concern for George Soros as he feels the Constitution of the nation is a document that remains fluid and must be argued and fought for in the face of right-wing politicians and parties. A follower of the open society theory popularized by Karl Popper, Soros believes the dominant nature of capitalist America makes it more difficult than ever before for the U.S. to build a successful future for its citizens. Soros believes the billionaire donor class he himself belongs to are a part of the problem damaging the fabric of U.S. society through the personal influence individual donors have over politicians and parties. During the campaign season for the 2016 Presidential election, George Soros aligned himself with the End Citizens United campaign operating a traditional PAC where the highest level of financial donation is limited to just $5,000. Soros provided the campaign with the maximum donation and has been reported by Politico to feel multi-million dollar donations during elections are “odious”.
